🚧 PSE&G Gas Main Work Update: August 8th - August 15th
PSE&G crews will continue working on Farnsworth Avenue, starting at Burlington Street and moving toward East Union Street during this period.
In addition, on Monday, August 11th, crews will be on Crosswicks Street at Lafayette Street and Walnut Street at Prince Street. They will be connecting the newly installed gas main on Crosswicks Street to the existing infrastructure, which will supply gas to the area. On Tuesday, August 12th, crews will be working on Second Street at Crosswicks Street and East Burlington Street. On Wednesday, August 13th, work will move to Spring Street at Crosswicks Street.
⚠️ Please note:
Normally, roads reopen around 3:30 PM after construction ends for the day. However, today (Friday, August 8th), Farnsworth Avenue will remain closed until 4:30 PM to allow PSE&G to bring in a street sweeper to thoroughly clean the roadway once work is complete.
-Expect some traffic delays and detours around the work zones
-Stay alert and follow all posted signs and directions for your safety
Thank you for your patience as these essential improvements continue!
Please be advised that the majority of property tax bills have been mailed as of today. Residents should expect to receive their statements shortly. Remaining tax bills will be mailed within the next several days.

PSE&G has been upgrading the city’s underground gas infrastructure over the past few weeks. Last week, crews wrapped up work on Crosswicks Street, and this week, they moved on to Farnsworth Avenue.
Normally, roads are reopened around 3:30 PM after construction ends for the day. Today (Friday, August 8th), Farnsworth Avenue will stay closed until about 4:30 PM so PSE&G can bring in a street sweeper to clean the roadway after work is finished.
Thank you for your patience and understanding while these important upgrades are completed - we know it can be inconvenient, but it’s all part of keeping our infrastructure safe and reliable!
Here’s a look back to the 1930s, when street sweeping meant one driver, one machine, and some serious elbow grease!
This vintage photo shows the Bordentown City street sweeper hard at work, keeping the streets clean the old-fashioned way. These days, our sweeper might be a bit more modern - and yes, a little more high maintenance (sometimes taking an unscheduled day off) - but the mission hasn’t changed: keeping Bordentown City tidy, one street at a time!
