Hydrant Flushing

Fall Hydrant Flushing Scheduled: October 7th – 16th

The City of Bordentown will be conducting its annual fall hydrant flushing program from Tuesday, October 7 through Thursday, October 16, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. This routine maintenance is essential to ensure our fire hydrants operate properly and to maintain the quality of the city’s water supply.

Important Information for Residents:

  • Temporary Water Discoloration: You may notice brown, rusty, or cloudy water while flushing occurs in your area. This is a normal, temporary effect of cleaning the pipes and is safe to use. If your water is discolored, run cold water for a few minutes until it clears. Avoid doing laundry during this time to prevent staining.

  • Water Pressure Changes: Some homes may experience low water pressure temporarily while crews are flushing hydrants nearby. Pressure should return to normal once flushing is complete in your area.

  • Timing and Schedule: Flushing will occur weekdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Residents can check the hydrant flushing schedule to see when crews will be working in their neighborhood.

  • Safety: Hydrant flushing crews will be working along streets and may have equipment near the roadway. Please drive carefully and give workers space.

  • Questions or Concerns: If you experience ongoing issues or have questions about hydrant flushing, contact the Water Department at 609-298-2121.

We appreciate your patience during this important maintenance program, which helps protect public safety and maintain clean, high-quality water for all residents.
