🌡️ Extreme Heat Warning in Effect for New Jersey
Now through Tuesday, June 25th at 8:00 PM
Our region is currently experiencing an extreme heat event with dangerously high temperatures. Please take precautions to stay safe, especially older adults, young children, and individuals with pre-existing health conditions.
Additionally, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) has issued a Code Orange Air Quality Alert for Monday, June 24th.
This means that air pollution levels may become unhealthy for sensitive groups, including:
Children
The elderly
People with heart or lung conditions (such as asthma)
Recommendations for sensitive individuals:
Limit time spent outdoors
Avoid strenuous outdoor activity
Stay in air-conditioned indoor spaces when possible

Heat Safety Tips
Drink plenty of water — stay hydrated even if you don’t feel thirsty.
Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.
Limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day (usually 11 AM–4 PM).
Check on family members, neighbors, and pets.
Never leave anyone in a parked car — not even for a short time.
